In 1993 after traveling to China from Vietnam mainly by bus, I took the Transiberian railroad from Beijing to Saint Petersberg via Irkusk and Moscow. My big regret: I forgot to buy film in Beijing and had only 4 rolls for the entire trip (I couldn’t find film in Ulaan Baatar). Consequently, I barely picked up my camera. Over time, these negatives were damaged by heat, but I post them because now with a bit of distance they evoke that strange inbetween time of the post-Soviet era.
