I was wondering why all the people had such ruddy complexions. Occurs to me that if they are at 14,000 feet, their hemogloblin levels must be extraordinarily high (to compensate for reduced oxygen, that's why athletes train at high altitude). Hence ruddy cheeks.

Most of the photos in this Kham set are taken between 12-19000 feet, so it is high. The other factor is the sun which is extraordinarily bright up there. My skin burn in minutes. Hats (or umbrellas) are essential.
