how odd. i just found a used copy of this at the thrift store yesterday and stayed up half the night reading it.

this is the really spooky part: when i went to bed last night to resume reading, i was in the middle of the "for esme, with love and squalor" story, and that sentence was right after where i had left off reading the night before.
