'War-game Project' is a series of works that I want to ask questions of the Korean War and the Korean recent and contemporary history with photographs and visual media. With 'Homo Violens', the first work, I want to reveal that Korean has its own inherent violence by providing images of people wearing military uniform.

I’m interested in ‘military survival’ which is contemporary and ongoing as just existing. Military survival is a kind of war play. It is playing war in possible and similar situations. We have a simulated war, divide up and reproduce the conflicting ideologies in the past. The purpose of this work is shedding new light on the Korean resent and contemporary history as well as encoding the violence of Korean through these records.

The existence of human has confirmed by only recorded history. The character history represents recording history and the recorded human being in history is only subject of the definite proof. No one remembered people who built a pyramid.

Although this idea is very materialistic, marxian and also thinking of the past, it is the absolute necessary condition for living in the present. And obsessing about the heritage of the past to plan better future deserves to be received a favorable evaluation.

Laszlo Moholy-Nagy said "The illiterate of the future is not one that can't read but one that can't read images" The process of making images is the most excellent way of writing now. Photograph is the best way of writing history by reason of a special feature on recording. So this work is the first record of this present state, I aim for the past and forward thinking at the same time.

Therefore, this work is primarily archive for the present continuous phenomenon, as well as aim for historical record to past-oriented and also future-oriented.

The Korean War broke out on June 25, 1950. This war was the first war on the Korean Peninsula in the cold war. It is valuable of record in history. But now most of us don't have direct experience of the war and also don't want to remember that consciously or unconsciously.

From that time, the history of modern violence of people who live in Korea has been begun. Now companies are doing labor repression. Conservative groups and the reds are criticizing each other. In that situation, the reason of the oppression is not important any more. There is only pure violence and nothing else. Koreans have accumulated this feature for a long time. In some respects most Koreans are sadists as well as masochists. I have one question now. That is what is Korean may have been taken by this violence.
