Bernardo Negrete: re equipment. I like to travel light, so I generally bring 1 Nikon FM2 and one or two lenses. The vast majority of my shots are Nikon FM2 + 24mm lense. 24mm is pretty much how I percieve the world.
As for state of mind obviously it varies from place to place, & moment to moment. For this shot I just remember being taken by the strength and beauty of the woman and the fragility of her baby. This is a harsh environment and infant mortality is still high, so one is always filled with a bit of melancholy upon seeing a newborn.
Well done! FM2 is my 35mm camera as well. I love it but use it rarely because I tend towards old medium format cameras these days. Your work is excellent.
Thank you very much for the explication, how you travel and how you're working. I'm very familiar to 24mm. too.
The smile of this mothers moves me. It seems to be well known and in the same moment so far, so strange - a really great moment!
I work for myself. Re the location, if you look below each photo there are generally two links before the title. The first link projects takes you to all the various projects, the second usually has the name of the place the photo was taken. If you click on the link you can see thumbnails of other photos from that place. In this case we're in Amdo. Amdo is Tibet's easternmost kingdom, one of my favorite places.

Hey
I am an art student in the uk doing a project about mother and child, nature in humans and truth. Your picture unifies these three components perfectly well, I think.

This is an incredible shot, Raul. In particular, I love the expression on the mother's face. So enigmatic.

Beautiful shot, so strong and colorful. Where was it taken, is it Nepal? Or Tibet?
